Republican Rep. Bob Goodlatte who Chairs the House Judiciary Committee will use his influence to kill the current immigration reform since he believes, "It is not a bill I can support. That bill gives legal status to people not lawfully here before the enforcement is put in,'' and likewise for DREAMers as he clarified in the statement, “But, even for them, I would say that they get a legal status in the United States and not a pathway to citizenship that is created especially for them.”
Goodlatte addressed a crowd of nearly 200 on Tuesday, Aug 20, 75 of which were immigration reform supporters brought by Virginia Organizing, a progressive group, in western Virginia. He talked at length on immigration, gun control, Obamacare and government spying. Nearly half the crowd appeared to be supporting the immigration reform.
Although, Goodlatte's district is majority white, there are immigrants who working in the hospitality services, apple farms and poultry plants.
